A practical hands-on course, introduction to Personal Computers will teach the learner to start a computer and manage input devices such as a mouse and keyboard. The learner will also gain an understanding of what is needed to process data, how to store data on different devices, how to optimize the monitor and how to use other output devices, such as printers, external drives, USB.
The learner will be taught how to managing data as well as to work with Windows Explorer, to create and manipulate files and folders, and discusses the protection of data. The learner will also learn how to work with applications such as Windows Accessories, Desktop, Outlook and Internet Explorer, how to access Help and shut down the relevant Windows operating system.

Any of these courses will provide the learner with the basics of any of the various Windows operating systems. It will show you how to use the taskbar and start menu, work with Windows components, use the ‘Help’ facility and make use the favourites and history lists. Learn to use Windows Explorer to navigate and search for files, as well as to create and manage files. The learner will also become familiar with WordPad, Paint and Internet Explorer.
These are the most important program that operates a computer. Every computer has an operating system to run other programs. Operating systems perform basic tasks, such as recognizing input from the keyboard, sending output to the display screen, keeping track of files and directories on the disk, and controlling peripheral devices such as disk drives and printers.
Operating systems provide a software platform on top of which other programs, called application programs, can run on the computer. The graphical user interfaces allow the learner to enter commands by pointing and clicking at objects that appear on the screen.
